The politics of scheduling
I was surprised to learn from this ESPN article that MLB doesn't do their scheduling in-house. It makes sense when you think about it. 162 games, 30 teams, 2 leagues, 6 divisions, inter-league play, unbalanced divisions - I sure as shit wouldn't want to be locked in a dark room for six months trying to wrap my head around it.
But have no fear - Sports Scheduling Group (which is part of the shockingly large sports scheduling industry) is here to save the day. It's just too bad about the Stephenson's. Oh well, that's capitalism for you.
