K-Rod disabled

What happened here? It's clear his injury is more serious than the Angels have been letting on. The question is how much more serious.

Joel Peralta up, with Chris Prieto DFA'd to clear space on the 40-man. I like the idea of giving Peralta a look, but it strikes me as odd to ditch Prieto - who was with the Angels only a week ago - to do so. Though I don't have any suggestions as to who else to move. (This is where that "trade" word comes into play.)

UPDATE: Here's what the Register had to say about Frankie this morning:
The Angels had hoped to have closer Francisco Rodriguez available Sunday, but opted instead to have him throw another bullpen session to further test his strained right forearm.

Rodriguez emerged with no problems and should be available as early as tonight or Tuesday against the visiting Chicago White Sox, Scioscia said.
I wonder what's changed since yesterday? It could be as simple as a little inflammation this morning, or it could be (God forbid) a setback of some sort.

Comments:

It's strange, I agree. I guess they want to give it more time to heal. But, it's retroactive to May 15, so he's already eight days into it. And, with the way the starters and Shields have been going, maybe they won't suffer too much. Maybe.
