Weaver "still under consideration"
In today's LA Times, Bill Stoneman signals that the Morales signing is not necessarily the end of the Jered Weaver talks:
Stoneman said he was not deterred by all the well-documented flops or the fact that he would have less money available to sign pitcher Jered Weaver, the Angels' first-round draft pick. Stoneman said Weaver was "still under consideration."
On a related note, the details of Morales' contract have emerged. $10m/6 with a $3m signing bonus. I expected Weaver to draw a signing bonus in the $7-8m dollar range - money that some thought was going to Kendry Morales. So maybe Arte does have the cash for both. Of course, the signing bonus is academic as long as Boras insists upon a major league contract.
