Surprise, surprise...

...Ramon Ortiz sucks. His start today against the Texas Rangers went just about as expected: 2 2/3 IP, 9 H, 7 ER.

In all honesty, I don't think I've ever seen a worse performance from a pitcher. Ortiz's mechanics were all wrong- he was releasing way too early, resulting in pitch-after-pitch sailing high in the zone. Clearly he didn't have his best stuff, and he showed no interest in battling through it. Perhaps worst of all, he let his emotions get the best of him (of course that has always been the knock on Ramon) and effect his pitching.

Even now you can see ability that earned him the name "Pocket Pedro". Ramon has major-league stuff- he just doesn't have the slightest clue how to pitch. Never has, never will.
